About the role
GRO Solutions is building GRO, a privacy-first AI financial companion that turns everyday money decisions into lasting financial confidence. We are backed by GrowthX Capital, headquartered in Doha, and heading into launch. Finance has been founder-run so far — it should not stay that way. We are looking for a CFO to take the finance function from founder-run to institution-ready. You own the numbers end to end: the ledger, the close, the tax position, the model, and the story those numbers tell to investors and partners. This starts as a fractional engagement with a path to a full-time seat as we scale through our next rounds.
What you will own
- The books and the close — bookkeeping, monthly management accounts and a clean audit trail from day one, executed with outsourced support under your supervision.
- Tax and statutory compliance under the QFC regime, together with our appointed audit and tax advisors.
- The financial model — a driver-based model that ties product metrics to burn, runway and the numbers we put in front of investors.
- Budgeting and burn discipline, with runway reporting the founding team can actually act on.
- Investor reporting and the data room — the KPI definitions and a diligence pack that holds up under scrutiny.
- Unit economics for a consumer subscription product: acquisition cost, retention, lifetime value and the real cost of running AI at scale.
- Banking and treasury relationships in Qatar, and across Europe as we expand.
- Financial readiness for our next priced round: model, cap table mechanics, instrument conversion and diligence.
The mandate
Your first mission is to get finance to a standard that survives institutional diligence, and to build the model and reporting that carry us into our next priced round. From there, the role widens — supporting entity structure as we expand beyond Qatar, building the banking and partner relationships a financial product depends on, and eventually taking on corporate development as strategic conversations begin. The early phase rewards an operator willing to be on the ledger; everything after rewards a strategist. We are looking for someone who is genuinely both.
What we are looking for
- A qualified accountant with real CFO-level experience behind the qualification.
- Hands-on fluency with bookkeeping and close, not only oversight — at this stage you will sometimes do the work yourself.
- Driver-based financial modeling for consumer subscription businesses, and the judgment to know which drivers matter.
- An informed view of consumer finance: how people actually earn, spend, borrow and save, not only how it is reported. Our product lives or dies on that understanding, and we want a CFO who shares it.
- Respect for the boundary that defines us: we educate, we never give financial advice. That boundary shapes our model, our partnerships and our regulatory posture.
- Clear, direct communication and the judgment to operate as a true financial counterpart to a founding team.
- Comfort with startup reality: incomplete data, fast decisions and no finance department standing behind you.
Nice to have
- Experience in the GCC, and specifically with the QFC regime.
- You have taken a startup through at least one institutional funding round and know what diligence actually asks for.
- Familiarity with both European and Middle Eastern banking infrastructure, payment rails and consumer finance regulation.
- A fintech or regulated financial services background.
- An established network among investors, banks and strategic partners across the GCC and Europe.
- Corporate development or M&A experience, buy side or sell side.
- Arabic.
How this works
- You start fractional: an agreed number of days per month, as an individual contractor or through your own practice.
- Scope and commitment are reviewed at set intervals as the company grows.
- For the right person, there is a path to a full-time CFO seat as we scale through our next rounds.
- Remote works.
Why this role
Most fractional finance work is maintenance. This is not. You are building a finance function from the first entry, at a company where financial literacy is the product itself — which means your instincts about how people handle money feed straight back into what we build. You get a category-defining product at the intersection of AI and personal finance, real investor backing, a senior founding team that has shipped at scale, and a seat at the table for the decisions that set the next five years.
